Experience the creative pulse of world-renowned choreographers and explore their repertoire alongside DART Dance Company in Tokyo, Japan.
Over five inspiring days, dancers will embark on a journey of exploration and growth. Under the guidance of Kinga Varga, participants will delve into DART Dance Company Repertoire and contemporary technique. Quentin Roger, former dancer at NDT, will lead sessions dedicated to the expressive, musical, and deeply human repertoire of JIŘÍ KYLIÁN, as well as the physically driven, theatrical, and rhythmically charged works of ALEXANDER EKMAN.

GROUPS: During the workshop there will be two level groups: Group 1, where we welcome dancers with a beginner level, and Group 2, where we host dancers with an intermediate.

ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHERS:
Jiří Kylián
Jiří Kylián is a Czech choreographer internationally acclaimed for his profound artistic vision and innovative contributions to contemporary dance. His works blend lyrical fluidity, structural precision, and a deep exploration of human emotion, often marked by poetic imagery and a refined musical sensibility. Kylián served as Artistic Director of Nederlands Dans Theater for nearly a quarter of a century, during which time he created an extensive and influential body of work that reshaped the landscape of modern choreography and significantly expanded the company’s global reputation. His creations challenge dancers both technically and expressively, offering audiences a rich, multilayered, and timeless artistic experience.
Alexander Ekman
Alexander Ekman is a Swedish choreographer internationally recognized for his bold, theatrical, and highly physical approach to contemporary dance. His works are characterized by strong rhythmic structures, inventive use of space, and a dynamic interplay between movement, music, and theatrical elements. Ekman has created pieces for leading companies including the Royal Swedish Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, and Cullberg Ballet, and is widely known for large-scale productions such as Cacti, Play, and A Swan Lake. His choreography challenges dancers with its physical intensity, musical precision, and performative demands, offering audiences an energetic, witty, and unmistakably modern stage experience.
DART Dance Company
DART Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in Berlin. In 2013, the company was founded in Budapest by Artistic Director Kinga Vargova. DART quickly grew and proclaimed itself in the Berlin performing art scene and to this day has performed in 12 different countries around the globe, including Switzerland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. To this date, over 38 productions both full-length pieces and short pieces have been realised. The company is eager to collaborate with ambitious, upcoming and enthusiastic artists. The movement language would be described as a mix between ballet lines, contemporary, and acrobatics.

イリ・キリアン
イリ・キリアンは、現代舞踊の分野において深い芸術的ビジョンと革新的な功績で国際的に高く評価されているチェコ出身の振付家です。彼の作品は、流れるような叙情性、構造的な精密さ、人間の感情への深い探求を融合させ、詩的なイメージと洗練された音楽性を特徴としています。
キリアンは約四半世紀にわたりネザーランド・ダンス・シアター（NDT）の芸術監督を務め、その在任期間中に、モダン・コレオグラフィーの在り方を大きく変革し、同カンパニーの国際的評価を飛躍的に高める膨大かつ影響力のある作品群を創作しました。彼の創作は、ダンサーに高度な技術力と豊かな表現力の両方を求め、観客に対しては重層的で奥深く、時代を超えた芸術体験を提供します。
アレクサンダー・エクマン
アレクサンダー・エクマンは、大胆で演劇的、かつ非常に身体性の高いアプローチで国際的に知られるスウェーデン出身の振付家です。彼の作品は、強いリズム構造、空間の独創的な使い方、そして動き・音楽・演劇的要素のダイナミックな相互作用を特徴としています。
これまでに、スウェーデン王立バレエ団、ネザーランド・ダンス・シアター、クルベリ・バレエなど、世界を代表するカンパニーのために作品を創作してきました。特に《Cacti》《Play》《A Swan Lake》といった大規模作品で広く知られています。彼の振付は、身体的な強度、音楽的な正確さ、高いパフォーマンス性をダンサーに要求し、観客にはエネルギッシュで機知に富み、きわめて現代的な舞台体験をもたらします。
DART ダンス・カンパニー
DART ダンス・カンパニーは、ベルリンを拠点とするコンテンポラリーダンス・カンパニーです。2013年に芸術監督キンガ・ヴァルゴヴァによってブダペストで設立されました。DARTは急速に成長し、ベルリンのパフォーミングアーツ・シーンにおいて確固たる地位を築き、これまでにスイス、スペイン、イギリスを含む世界12か国で公演を行ってきました。
これまでに、全幕作品および短編作品を含む38作品以上を制作しています。カンパニーは、意欲的で新進気鋭、そして情熱あふれるアーティストとのコラボレーションに積極的です。そのムーブメント・ランゲージは、バレエのライン、コンテンポラリー、アクロバティックな要素を融合させたスタイルとして特徴づけられます。
